Dog Park Policy

Dog Park Policy

Approved by the Board Oct 17 2020; revised 3.25.21

Alder Springs provides a dog park for residents only and this policy is considered to be an incorporated part of the Pet Agreement. In signing the Pet Agreement, the resident(s) agrees to comply with this Policy including amendments that may be made from time to time:

The dog park is for the use of Alder Springs residents who have signed a Pet Agreement and their pets only.

Dogs should be temperament tested before being allowed to use the dog park.

Pet owners are legally responsible for their pets and any injuries caused by their pets.

Puppies and dogs must be properly vaccinated and healthy to use the park.

Dogs must always wear a collar and ID tags.

Owners must clean up after their dogs and properly dispose of the waste.

Dogs showing aggression or reactivity towards people or other animals must be removed from the park.

Dogs who have a history of aggressive behavior are not permitted in the dog park.

Puppies using the park must be at least four months old and have received at least 2 rounds of Distemper and Bordetella vaccinations. Most veterinarians do not vaccinate for Rabies until the puppy is 6 months old.

Owners must not leave their dogs unattended in the dog park and must be inside the dog park fencing with their dogs.

Children under the age of 16 are not permitted in the park unless actively supervised by a parent or relative.

Dogs in heat are not allowed inside the park. Alder Springs requires that dogs be spayed and neutered before using the dog park. Intact dogs increase the likelihood of fights.

No food, dog treats, beverages (other than water), glass, sharp objects, or weapons are permitted inside the park. Some dogs are food aggressive, so it is a bad idea to have food of any kind in the park.

Owners must always have their dog’s leash. Dogs must be leashed in the entryway before entering and prior to leaving the park. Dogs should have their leashes removed in the entryway before entering the dog park to avoid injury to owners and other dogs.

Violators will be subject to removal from the park and suspension of park privileges. All dogs in the dog park should be current on their Rabies, Distemper (one combination vaccine that vaccinates against canine distemper, canine adenovirus-2 infection - hepatitis and respiratory disease, canine parvovirus infection, and parainfluenza), and Bordetella.

Current vaccine records for all dogs must be provided when the Pet Agreement is signed and kept on file.
